Ethical leadership support for Ontario senior care.

Independent counsel, clinical wisdom, and structured decision-making for complex care dilemmas.

Bringing objective, structured ethics counsel into your home’s most delicate conversations:

  • Family Deadlocks & Care Goals — Facilitating structured dialogue between divided families and care staff to establish a unified path forward.

  • Consent & Decision-Making Rights — Supporting all parties through complex capacity assessments, SDM disputes, and regulatory clarity.

  • Risky Choice & Resident Autonomy — Working alongside residents, families, and teams to honour personal agency without inappropriate risk.

What we do

Every retirement home faces complex challenges that aren’t strictly clinical, aren’t purely legal, and aren’t settled by policy:

  • Resident Autonomy & Risk: A resident insisting on choices that create safety concerns or moral distress for care staff.

  • Family Deadlocks: Deep conflict between substitute decision-makers over care goals and values.

  • Decision-making Authority: Ambiguity around consent, capacity, and who holds legal authority to make care decisions.

  • Relationships & Vulnerability: Intimate or complex relationships between residents requiring sensitive boundaries.

  • Unspoken Ethical Concerns: Scenarios where staff sense there is an issue but lack a clear framework to address it.

Curry & Co. provides dedicated, independent ethics counsel, helping your team navigate hard situations, make defensible decisions, and build lasting organizational capacity.

What you get

  • Immediate Access: A designated senior ethicist with a guaranteed two-hour response time when complex issues arise.

  • Family & Caregiver Support: Compassionate facilitation that helps families and substitute decision-makers work through difficult decisions alongside care teams.

  • Defensible Documentation: A clear written record and rationale that respects resident rights, gives families peace of mind, and satisfies your home's regulatory standards.

  • Staff & Community Capacity: Turnkey debriefing and ongoing education so your staff, residents, and families feel supported for future challenges.

Founder & Principal Ethicist

Dr. Frank Curry is a healthcare ethicist dedicated to guiding organizational leaders, care teams, and families through complex healthcare choices. He holds doctorates in applied ethics and moral theology and completed a two-year senior fellowship in clinical and organizational ethics, serving across acute care, complex rehabilitation, mental health, and palliative settings.

He founded Curry & Co. to address a vital gap in senior care: providing Ontario retirement communities with the same level of responsive, independent ethics counsel long relied upon by public hospital systems.
